Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you were able to take a well-deserved break. A lot has happened in the Safeguarding Project since last year. Firstly, we are excited to announce funding from the Flinders Foundation for the Safeguarding Project research. You can read a brief article about the Safeguarding Project on the Flinders Foundation website.

We have also been granted ethical approval from Flinders University Social and Behavioural Research Ethics Committee. This is an important step forward because means data collection can commence. But first, we are developing the Delphi survey which will be shared with nurses and midwives working with children in Australia. We are still finalising the final survey items before pilot testing the questions to make sure they are clear and concise. I will post an update when the survey becomes available - so watch this space!

Over the next few months, I will be talking about the Safeguarding Project at several professional development events for nurses and midwives. In these sessions, I will be discussing nurses’ and midwives' roles in safeguarding, sharing findings from my PhD research and outlining how the Safeguarding Project can build on what we already know. I will keep you posted when I know the full details! Please get in touch if you would like me to present a professional development session for your organisation as I’m always happy to talk about how we can work together to keep children safe.

Take care!

Lauren
